CHUCK LANSDELL SENT A E-MAIL TO MELINDA MALONE. THE E-MAIL HAD A FEW ISSUES THE MAYOR WANTED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING. MELINDA MALONE TOLD THE CITY COUNCIL SHE NEVER RECEIVED THE E-MAIL FROM THE CHUCK. THE E-MAIL WENT TO FIVE PEOPLE AND MELINDA WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT DID NOT GET THE E-MAIL.
THE MAYOR REFUSED TO START THE MEETING BECAUSE THE ISSUES WERE NOT PUT ON THE AGENDA. STEVE GLOVER SAID IF THERE IS NOT GOING TO BE A MEETING I AM GOING TO LEAVE. WHEN HE STOOD UP EVERYONE STARTED TO CLAP.
SOME ISSUES WERE TALKED ABOUT IN THE WORK SESSION. CHUCK TOLD MIKE MALONE AND STEVE GLOVER THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY BACK ATTORNEY FEES THAT THE CITY PAID TO THE CITY ATTORNEY. THE ETHICS COMPLAINTS MUST HAVE THE TWO WORRIED.
THE NEW CITY LAW THAT WOULD TAKE THE MAYORS AUTHORITY AWAY HIT A SNAG. THE COUNCIL WORDED THE LAW INCORRECTLY AND HAS TO REWRITE THE LAW. THE COUNCIL TRIED TO REWRITE IT IN THE WORK SESSION AND CHUCK TOLD THEM HE WOULD NOT ALLOW IT.

RUMORS HAVE IT THAT MELINDA MALONE HAS ONE FOOT ON A BANANA PEEL AND ONE ON A PINK SLIP. MALONE REFUSES TO LISTEN TO CHUCKS ORDERS AND HE IS TIRED OF IT.
I would assume when our town was incorporated some type of charter established our Mayor / Council form of governance. How can our present council pass an ordinance stipping the Mayor of his authority without first abolishing that document? Seems to me by abolishing the charter they would also stip themselves of any "authority" in the process. The US Congress can't pass a law stipping the President of his authority because of a little charter called the US Constitution!!! It sounds to me that it is time for the League of Municipalities, Attorney General, Governor, or another appropriate State Agency or Official to step in and end this nonsense immediately!!!

ReplyDeletee-mail that could have deleted it so that she wouldn't know about it? They need to communicate better. Couldn't her Husband Mike have mentioned it to her that he had received his e-mail on that subject just in converstion or do they not speak to one another?
The other council members do need to pay their own attorney and repay the City. The Council members need to wake up and find out how to do their job and do it correctly. After all they do live in Cherokee to. If the council members take away all rights of the Mayor the we don't need any of the council members either. In my opinion the council members are cutting off their noses to spite their face and are not doing any good for the town. We need a new mayor and council members that can conduct business like adults and work together in an appropriate manner.
Everyone should clear their calendars and make plans to be at the Cherokee Water and Gas Department's Board Meeting on Monday, 9/13/2010. At that meeting, Mignon Willis will again make every effort to destroy the Water and Gas Department to satisfy her own personal vendetta. Apparently her desire is for the Water and Gas Board to operate with the same efficiency as our Town Council.

Rules and regulations underwhich the Water and Gas Department has legally operated for many years. Mignon will disect each and every ordiance, rule, regulation, motion, minute, register and any other document she can get her hand on, not looking for ways to improve service or help customers or make Cherokee a better place to live (if she wanted to do that, she'd move) but looking for ways to trip up, confuse and muddy the waters so she can come in and write her own rules, regulations, ordinances, motions, minutes, registers, and whatever other documents she needs use to exact her revenge.
Mignon is a stickler for the letter of the law except of course when she can't make it suit her desires such as a Board Rule requiring all Board members and employees to be drug tested. In such cases she merely ignores the law,as she did for her former employer "Rehab Solutions" in Tupelo, MS, whom she owes $189000 for the tax leins that where placed on the business because of her incompetence and willfull negligence.
Citizens of Cherokee and Water and Gas Department customers do not be fooled, Mignon Willis could care less about you or the City of Cherokee, she cares only about herself and her pathological desire to retaliate against those who dare cross her.
Come to Monday's Water and Gas Department Meeting and see for yourselves. You won't be disappointed, Mignon will put on a good show for you using big words and throwing around facts and figures (most of which she herself doesn't understand) to impress you, but you must not forget, it's only a show, she is only trying make herself look good and destroy the Water Board to settle a personal score.
Cherokee never before had the problems we now have in our town government until Mignon Willis got involved and she will stop at nothing to fulfill her desire to destroy Cherokee!!! And, for some unexplainable and disturbing reason she has a few followers that have taken over our city government (Glover, Malone, Franks, and Mason). Until this bunch is removed from office you can forget about new businesses coming to town or new citizens moving to town. Therefore, you can bet tax revenues will continue to decline. A bankrupt town will be the result of our inept, incompetent, Mignonite infested town government.
CITIZENS OF CHEROKEE WE MUST TAKE BACK OUR TOWN!!! IT IS TIME TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST MIGNON AND HER MIGNONITES. BE AT THE WATER BOARD MEETING MONDAY, 9/15, AND LET HER AND HER POSSE KNOW WE AREN'T GOING TO PUT UP WITH THEIR CRAP ANY LONGER. IT MUST STOP NOW!!!

I think someone notify the corrrect people and bring lots and lots of publicity to the corrupt council. Its time to bring everything out in the open that can be provenso far. The council should not be allowed to tske away the mayors authorty. God help us if they start running this town!!! Contact the higher ups and ask for immediate help and let them know what the council is planning!!! Is the minutes of the meeting public or do have to be someone in authorit to get it? Send a copy to the higher ups as proof of what they are attempting. This town needs help before its to late!! And time is running out fast! You are using the wrong strategy to win. First, this blog grates harshly on the citizens of Cherokee and turns them against you and your goals. Gonna go way out on a limb here and say, if you keep up your current hate filled strategies, all four council members will be RE ELECTED. in 2012.

You can deny it all you want but some of us kniw the truth. Lets take a look at the facts shall we? When any one person can get the,now ex-mayor (but obviously still the one running this town), to change zoning laws just so they can put in a bunch of wanna be shabby huts to rent out to people ( HA HA)there has to be more going on than anyone knows. ESpecially when the mentioned huts are a eye-sore and totally make the whole street look trashy. As a matter of fact you can get away with your whole yard and grounds looking totally like sh*t while others are made to clean up or face fines. So, maybe your realtionship with the council and Mignon needs to be investigated a little deeper also. And you always seem to be coming to their defense and making them out to be fine upstanding citizens when the facts have already been pointed out and they are being exposed. Some of them are even under ethics investigation! Still you defend them! So sounds like maybe they got still more puppets roaming around!!!

Why should they monoplize our town and force us to use them or no one at all? What gives them that right? Is there someone we can contact about this? If so who?? Why should we be denied cheaper and better service just because they want to be a-holes?? I guess Mignon and her puppets do not want us to save our hard earned money and get better service. They want us to keep giving it to them! Please let us know if anyone knows who we can contact about this injustice and our violation of freedom of choice!!

WOW!!!!! "The REAL C.O.B.R.A" you really think they will be re-elected. Go out in town and ask a few people what they think about what is going on with the council. Most of them are probably going to tell you that it is ridiculous. The people on that council are NOT trying to do what is best for the town. They are doing what the Puppet Master wants.
ReplyDeleteAll of this mess has gone on long enough. It's embarrassing to go somewhere and someone asks you where you're from, and you say Cherokee and he or she laughs in your face. It's time for everyone to GROW UP and quit fighting like a bunch of two year olds. Everyone on the council needs to act like adults and do what is best for CHEROKEE. Not what they think is just going to make the other side of the council mad.
You were elected to the council by your district to do what is best for CHEROKEE, not to do all of this other bullcrap that has been going on. GROW UP people.
The problem with the telephone company and AT&T is not the fact that TEC will not let AT&T in, it is the fact that state law will not allow AT&T in because it is the primary ILEC (incumbent local exchange carrier) for the state of Alabama. Per the rules set forth by the Alabama Public Service Commission, they cannot control more than a certain percentage of the state as an ILEC. ILEC's cannot compete with each other for customers. TEC is an ILEC for our area of the state. There are other providers such as ITC Deltacom that are CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carriers) that can compete in ILEC territories. But no other CLEC companies have came to Cherokee to provide home telephone or DSL service even though they have a right to. The TEC area is too spread out and not enough potential customers for a CLEC to spend the kind of money needed to place their equipment here.
