THE MAYOR’S SECRETARY STILL HAS NOT BEEN PAID. MARSHA ALLEN WORKS A FEW DAYS A WEEK AND THE CITY COUNCIL STILL HAS NOT PAID HER. MELINDA MALONE TOOK A VACATION DAY MONDAY AND MARSHA ALLEN CAME IN AND FILLED IN FOR MELINDA. MELINDA MALONE HAS TO ATTEND CLASS TODAY AND MARSHA IS FILLING IN FOR HER AGAIN. HOW MANY STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS IS THE CITY COUNCIL BREAKING BY NOT PAYING A LEGALLY HIRED EMPLOYEE?
THE CITY COUNCIL GAVE MAYOR LANSDELL AND COUNCILWOMEN LAMBERT 15 DAYS TO REPAY MONEY PAID TO MARSHA ALLEN. IT HAS BEEN OVER THIRTY DAYS AND THE MONEY HAS NOT BEEN PAID BACK. WHY HAS THE CITY COUNCIL DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? COULD IT BE BECAUSE THE MAYOR AND COUNCILWOMEN WERE RIGHT AND THE COUNCIL IS WRONG?
It might very well be. The only way to find out for sure is to ask the City Attorney or the Ethics Commission or the Government of Municipalities. Someone would have the answer.

ReplyDeleteshe was volunteering her time to the town and that she was able to do so because she was receiving free babysitting. Marsha also verbally
told several people this. These comments were
made AFTER the council voted not to pay her anyway.
When you volunteer, you do not get paid. When you volunteer, you have no grounds to decide that
you should have been paid or you should start getting paid. Marsha's Facebook post and her verbal comments will become very useful if and when Marsha makes a claim for payment.
I think it is nice that Marsha has been willing
to volunteer her time to possibly help the
town! Wouldn't it be nice if we had others
volunteering to help the town as well?
If I had been fired, I would have gladly volunteered my time to help the town. But the mayor has the authority to hire me and I deserve to be paid. I am NOT volunteering, I was hired by the mayor as his secretary. Alabama Law allows him to do so. It was a common misconception that I was fired, in fact all the council did was refuse to pay me after I had already received four consecutive paychecks. I have continued to work since they voted not to pay me. I go into work, clock in and out just like every other employee of the town. I will be there as he needs me to be. Especially when the mayor is in the office, whether it is for one day a week or for five days a week. He needs someone with experience and that communicates with him to help him carry out the business plan that he was elected to do. Part of which is to improve the quality of life and job market in Cherokee. Remember he was elected for three consecutive terms and ran unopposed in the last election, so the choice was clear as to whom the town wanted as their mayor. He was elected to take care of the whole town not just one district.
ReplyDeleteI would advise you not to ask the city attorney because he don't know to much. Melinda had to guide him through the last council meeting. She was telling him what to say. Melinda even pointed out to him that Mike was voting and fix it. The city attorney was chosen by a select few of the council. How come the Mayor and Thelma didn't get to help choose. Oh, I bet I know why, because they wouldn't go for someone that would only be on there side and not the town.

ReplyDeleteFrom what I have heard the offending champion did not accuse that of the toll booth in which all people created the speakers that uphold the distance between good and the color blue. Could you at least agree on who would and would not be designated to clear the window of my own dear flash drive?? I tried once to include all that was mentioned in my observation of the LCD screening of my very own animal skin. However, those who choose to greet me in my hour of need.... can and will be used to misguide the legal activites of that in which they triumph! What a champion of the American Rights that are used on a day to day basis to ensure our hospitality and all who endure... Thank You to the closed door that separates me from the paint that is thinning the vocabulary of many who sit and ponder on who to eat for brunch. I for one will not forsake my own snakeskin to such a kind and unbearable worksheet of my own kind hearted wooden spoon.
ReplyDeleteLET'S NOT open a night club with go-go dancers or topless dancers or waitressess at all. ESPECIALLY NOT NEXT TO THE BALLFIELD. This needs to be a family friendly town.
