NEW TOWN HALL

PEOPLE CLOSE TO MALONE, GLOVER, FRANKS, MASON ARE SAYING THE FOUR COUNCIL MEMBERS ARE TALKING ABOUT MOVING CITY HALL TO THE OLD SENIORS CENTER ON MAIN STREET. REMEMBER THAT A NEW SENIOR CENTER WAS BUILT BECAUSE THE OLD ONE WOULD FLOOD DURING A HEAVY RAIN. THERE WAS ALSO A MOLD PROBLEM IN THE BUILDING.

THE SAME PEOPLE SAID THE PROJECT TO RESTORE THE BUILDING COULD COST SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 40,000 – 70,000 DOLLARS. THERE IS NOT A LOT OF PARKING AT THAT LOCATION AND THE BUILDING IS NOT THAT BIG. WHERE WOULD THE CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS AND COURT BE HELD? WAS THE FLOODING PROBLEM EVER FIXED? WHAT ABOUT THE MOLD PROBLEM? THE COUNCIL SHOULD TALK WITH THE PUBLIC FIRST ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS ON THE MATTER BEFORE THEY SPEND THAT TYPE OF MONEY.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

  1. I hope they do the right thing and get ALL public comments before spending our towns money. If they are going to spend all that money, I would rather see a new Town Hall built. Just my opinion.

  2. They probably need a move about right now. Good way to lose files, records etc.. anything that can be used against them, in a court of law.

  3. If all the information you get about Cherokee is from this site and all the other gossip sources, you are missing out on a lot of facts and making uninformed judgements about situations and people. You dont see what's going on behind the scenes between Chuck's group and Mignons group.

  4. I don't think that moving City Hall right now is a good idea. There should be an outside person looking over things at this point so that any records don't get destroyed. since Melinda and all others are accused of doing illegal activity. Someone should bring this up to the higher ups immediately!! EVERYONE PLEASE CALL!!! so that we can get everything under control. It is your duty to notify offcials!!

  5. Everyone needs to call some higher ups and inform them. After all Melinda and all the others have been accused of illegal activities. Someone should be there investigating and watching and making sure that no documents or reocrds and such get destroyed or lost.
My opinion is they don't need to move they just move not to long ago.

  6. Build a new city hall where the old one was on main street. The city owns the land.

  7. Good idea? There is going to be a town hall meeting on this right?
    When is the next meeting?

  8. Well Real Cobra, I do believe this site is accomplishing somthing, Its letting people discuss the issues in this town. In my opinion that may be a good thing. And most of what I have read on here has some truth sadly. What needs to happen is Mignons group needs to grow up and stop playing favorites and TRY TO IMPROVE THIS TOWN. Maby if some of these people would get on here and see how discussed people are about them, they might atleast think about growing up and stop the bickering and stop makeing us a laughing stock for the surrounding area. Heck I talked to some people from Aberdeen Mississippi who knew where cherokee was because of this Crap. THis is Sad.

  9. I agree it is a sad situation, I am doing all I can to get the two sides working together by trying to heal the wounds of the past but many on this site keep digging up bones and opening old wounds. This must stop before Cherokee can move ahead. You cannot go forward while looking back!

  10. I think since most of the land in the center of the old city belongs to individuals, AND Cherokee has a great start on a new city center with the senior center and storm shelter, The county will deed the remaining land back to Cherokee, let's build a new town hall by the senior center and I will design a gardens and walking area for free and donate my labor free to help make it happen. Good thing about this location is that it will be all city owned. Anyone else out there willing to donate time labor materials and equipment to make this gardens and walking area for our city?

  11. Well let's all hope that it does not look like your yard!!! After all-- you did design that too, didn't you?

  12. How about someone building a Daycare Center. I know that there has got to be people out there that need DayCare for their children from time to time. And please don't convert one of the old building, there probably have mold, lead paint and asbestos not to mention pluming and electrical problems. Lets make a place for our children to have fun. A Multi purpose Center for all to have reunions and receptions. A waterslide, bowling alley, putt putt golf. These would also bring in jobs and revenue.
Let not let our town become an old delapatated ghost town like Sheffield. Let keep our propety values up and crime down. Let's all work together.
    HOW ABOUT IT CHEROKEE CITIZENS.

  13. Now you are beginning to think in the right direction, I wouldn't mind investing more of my money in Cherokee if more had the business oriented mind and not the childish gossipy mind! You go Cherokee! !!!!!!!!

  14. Why would they get public comments before deciding to spend your money??? As they've proven time and again, they could care less what you think or say!!!

  15. Why hasn't the Mayor and Council members thought of any of that stuff. they have children and I am sure that they have taken them to Florence or Muscle Shoals more time than they can count to the movies, waterslide, skating rink. What about Barton they have the tissue plant,Listerhill credit union. Build something that would create jobs and revenue, make the town beautiful. It would be for their benefit too. We need to fix the problems and build a new.

  16. Why cant someone just fix the tennis courts and park right in the middle of town? It is really sad how run down that looks.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Our council is broken, until that is fixed nothing good will come!!! Call the DA, Attorney
General, Governor, League of Municipalities, State Ethics Commision, TV stations, newspapers, anyone that will listen and tell them of the corruption that has gripped our fair town!!!

  18. If Glover, Franks, Malone, and Mason are not removed from office the entire town will look just like the park / tennis courts before long. If Willis has her way at the Water & Gas Department, it'll face the same fate as Rehab Solutions in Tupelo, MS!!!!

  19. I have lived in cherokee, since 1952, never in my entire life have I seen one women cause so much trouble and stop our town from growing, she has a smooth talk that she much hynotized people is all I can figure out or she has something on a lot a people. Wake up people run her out of town. She stoled from her own cousin and why wouldn't she steal from you. She goes to church but evidently it doesn't do her any good. Setting in a chicken house doesn't make you a chicken.

  20. Cherokee is a wonderful place to live. Most of the people in Cherokee are family oriented. They attend church and school functions, support their kids in every way. They help their neighbors in ways you would never believe if you attend a City Council Meeting or read about it in the Times Daily. The council members are the dregs of our town and were only elected because no intelligent person will run for that office because of what the council has become. It is a struggle for power and we are all forgetting how to make our communtiy flurish and prosper. Every meeting just digs Cherokee into a deeper hole. People actually look down their noses at us when we tell them we live in Cherokee. They say WHY?
They just do not get a chance to see the GOOD part of Cherokee.

  21. Is it legal for Malinda Malone to lock the Mayor out of the office where the records are kept. Why would it not be better to have a secretary who is not married to a council member or have Malinda's husband resign as councilman? What is Malinda doing in her office that she does not want the the security cameras to record? Why did she move her desk so she cannot be seen by the cameras??

  22. I agree, Cherokee is a good place to live. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and seems to love one another, except the bunch on the city council. Cherokee is in such a good location, near the border of 3 states and on the Natchez Trace. If we could stop the bickering and all go to work for a common cause, we could have a little town that is a real tourist attraction. It would be ideal for Antique Shops, Coffee Shops, Bed and Breakfasts and Restaurants, etc. I read in the Times Daily today about how many more people are traveling the Natchez Trace every year. While our council members are fighting among themselves, we are the joke of the Shoals and the world is passing us by.

  23. Is there a petition going around to oust the council. I would like to know where to sign one.
Is there an organized group filing complaints against the council for illegal actions and ethic violations? I would like to be a part of that, too. Please post if you have answers to this.

  24. This is about the awfulliest thing I have every seen. Christian people need to get involved with this and I mean Christians not a so called Christian, I mean one with principles that act like one and certainly the crazy four have not shown any evidence of this and I hope they read this. There is no love in there hearts only bitterness. Is this a mark? No. Love, Joy, Peace, none of the four has this,we cannot judge their hearts but you can judge there actions, gambling, drinking, horemongering, stealing, and letting people tell you what to do are NOT the marks of a christian.
